Getting Started With RC Cars

You have a massive selection of RC vehicles, and the choices also vary in their performance level, style(s), and methods of customization. Despite the difference in mechanics, each RC vehicle possesses the same basic principles. You will need to have an idea of what qualities you are specifically looking for before buying an RC car of your own.

The four basic aspects of an RC vehicle include the following:

Motor: There are a variety of engines that are available for RC cars; the engine is the most significant part for you to focus on. Engines possess varying degrees of output and intricacy. If you are building your own RC car from scratch, you will need to determine what your engine power needs are.

Power Source: Your car needs a power source for its functions (steering, acceleration, etc.) In addition to the transmitter's battery power, RC cars require either an electric or fuel source. Electric cars are usually powered with a rechargeable battery pack, and nitro cars require a specific fuel mixture.

Transmitter: The transmitter is the control box that you hold in your hand as you direct your RC car's path. Transmitters are usually powered by a standard 9 volt battery, and they use a radio frequency to transmit the control commands as you direct your car.

Receiver: The receiver is composed of two separate parts: the circuit board inside of the car and the antenna. The receiver picks up the transmitter's signals and relays them to the various parts of the car.
